Jaya Misra is a textile and fashion conservator and museum practitioner specializing in the conservation, mounting, and research of dress, textiles, and textile objects. She holds an M.A. in Fashion and Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice with a concentration in Conservation from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. 

She held the position of Andrew W. Mellon Conservation Fellow in the Department of Textile Conservation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art under the 2022-2023 Met Fellowship Program. She has previously held internships at The Met and worked on projects in collaboration with the Museum of Chinese in America, The Museum at FIT, and provided consultations to private textile collections.

Her prior work experience includes a range of projects including conservation treatment, fabrication of archival storage formats, rehousing textile collections, mounting and display of dress and textiles for exhibition, and the maintenance of textiles in-situ. 

She is currently based in New Delhi, India, and available for contractual projects at any location.
